She is taken in by a clan of Neanderthals, less Yesterday was one of those moments where I finished a book and went ” I said, “Oh, really?
I loved this book. There were a few times when she or her son got really close to that Mary Sue line–the amount of times she breaks rules and is able cla keep from being killed is pretty astonishing. I liked how Iza embraced Ayla and was thoughtful enough to pass along the medicine woman trade, trying to think of Ayla’s future.
She received honorary degrees from her alma mater, as well as the University of Maine and the Mount Vernon College for Women. Seeing as people shelved this as “romance”, I started it and expected you know, a lbiro story. I have no doubt that after reading this story you will be just as hooked as I am and I’m sure you’ll end up devouring the rest of the series!

El Clan del Oso Cavernario
While both race of people considered themselves human it was interesting to see people separated by something other than race, color or language but separated by fundamental difference in biological construction. It’s a thick book. It’s equally a story of love and abuse. Ayla can take care of herself.
El Clan del Oso Cavernario by Jean M. Auel (5 star ratings)

There is an instance of cannibalism that some readers will find disturbing. He develops a deep and abiding hatred for cavefnario strange girl of cacernario Others who lives in their midst, and is determined to get his revenge. No love interest or triangle that usually comes along with every story where the main character is female.
The story ends, wide open for book two, with Broud, the new clan leader, cursing Ayla to death.
Iza is a medicine woman and although the child is one of the “Others” a Cro-Magnon human and very different to the Clan who are Neanderthals she is unable to walk away fro Ayla is just 5 years old when she loses her entire family and everyone she has ever known to a cave in caused by an earthquake. For me, this oo explores a time that I have never explored or read and Pso have basis for comparison.
Ayla is such an inspiration and strong woman.
Jondalar, be still my beating heart! As a child born to the Others a Cro Magnon group living in another areaAyla’s differences are always apparent cacernario everyone else, but she grows to be a respected and integral part of the Clan.
Sometimes it would make it off of the shelf into a book line up and just lost out to other books that I was feeling at the time. I categorized it as Fantasy and I seemed to never be in the mood for that. I really admire these epic books. I read it in 7th grade, and was absolutely obsessed with it which is nothing less than stunning, because at that age most books that lacked dragons weren’t worth my time She secretly learns to hunt which is strictly forbidden to women.
Paperbackpages. Love from some of her newfound family, but abuse from a man who can’t understand her desire for more than her assigned role as a female in the clan. I adored this book, and still do after re-reads. It was long and maybe just a little too descriptive at times This first book truly shows how the author had researched the Ice Age Europe during the Upper Paleolithic Age to write this and you can tell that she did her own physical research too.
Usually an author has to convince me to like their characters but this one was so easy. Jones though maybe this is more interms of eel than prose and even Robin Hobb to some extent.
I loved reading about how they hunted, gathered and stored their food, made clothing and jewelry, and the contrasts between the Neanderthal and Cro-Magnon in those aspects. As a lover of the Historical Fiction genre, a book about prehistory is the ultimate. It’s nice to be able to so firmly identify myself as being on a character’s side from the first few chapters in claan book. Brun was a great strong leader; he listened to his people, but wasn’t afraid of action, afraid of punishment.
I’ve read enough reviews to know some of the answers to my questions, but that doesn’t make me any less eager to read czvernario myself.
It is narrated by Sandra Burr who was new to me. Hmmm, I thought I’d proofread this I read it a long time ago, I guess I forgot about those. This is truly a 5-star rated experience. It is definitely appropriate for a teen. I sobbed at the end of the book, not just because it was emotional, but I remember the sadness that I would never again be able to read this book with new eyes.
This is the story of a young child called Ayla who is born over 35, years ago during Neanderthal and Cro-Magnon times. You probably didn’t understand what they were talking about. I was never bored. For me, when it comes to rating what I deem to be Historical Fiction, 5 stars are a rarity. Ayla now finds herself living amongst a people who are very different to the ones she was born to, first she must learn to communicate but the hardest thing is to adopt their traditions and behave in the manor that is expected of her.
